Flux

Flux $Φ$ is a measure of the tendency of a vector field $⃗ 𝐅$ to flow through an Orientated manifold (typically an Orientated surface). It can be defined as

Φ = \oint 𝑀 d e t ([⃗ 𝐅 𝑑 ⃗ 𝐌])

but is often thought of as

Φ = \oint 𝑀 ⃗ 𝐅 \cdot ˆ 𝐧 𝑑 𝑀

in many cases this may be calculated using Острогра́дский's divergence theorem and if a vector potential is known using Stokes's theorem.
