Microstate and macrostate

In statistical thermodynamics,

• the microstate of a system¹ refers to quantum mechanically the wavefunction of the system or classically all generalized coördinates of the system.

• the macrostate of a system² refers to macroscopic properties (e.g. Temperature, Energy, Volume)
