Lie algebras MOC

Radical of a Lie algebra

The radical radโก๐”ค of a Lie algebra ๐”ค is the unique maximal solvable ideal of ๐”ค. #m/def/lie

Proof of uniqueness

Let ๐”ฏ โŠด๐”ค be a maximal solvable ideal, and let ๐”ž โŠด๐”ค be a solvable ideal. Then by ^P3, ๐”ฏ +๐”ž is solvable and thus ๐”ฏ +๐”ž =๐”ฏ by maximality, whence ๐”ž โŠด๐”ฏ.
