Drinfel'd double of the Taft algebra

Simple modules of the Drinfel'd double of the Taft algebra

Let D𝑛(𝑞) be the Drinfel'd double of the Taft algebra. The non-isomorphic simple modules 𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) for D𝑛(𝑞) are indexed by pairs (ℓ,𝑟) where 0 ≤ℓ <𝑛 is an integer and 𝑟 ∈ℤ/𝑛ℤ. Here, 𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) is an ℓ-dimensional 𝕂-space with basis {𝑣0,…,𝑣ℓ−1} and D𝑛-action defined by1 #m/thm/hopf

𝑎𝑣𝑖=𝑣𝑖+1,𝑑𝑣𝑖=𝛼𝑖(ℓ)𝑣𝑖−1,𝑏𝑣𝑖=𝑞𝑟+𝑖𝑣𝑖,𝑐𝑣𝑖=𝑞1+𝑖−𝑟−ℓ𝑣𝑖

for 𝑖 =1,…,ℓ, where 𝑣−1 =𝑣ℓ =0 and2

𝛼𝑖(ℓ)=(𝑖)𝑞(1−𝑞𝑖−ℓ)=(𝑞𝑖−1)(1−𝑞𝑖−ℓ)𝑞−1.

Central character

Consider the central elements 𝑧,Ω ∈Z⁡(D𝑛(𝑞)). We have

𝑧𝑉(ℓ,𝑟)=𝑞2𝑟+ℓ−1;Ω𝑉(ℓ,𝑟)=𝑞−𝑟+𝑞−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1.
Calculation

For a basis vector 𝑣𝑖 we have

𝑧𝑣𝑖=𝑏𝑐−1𝑣𝑖=𝑞𝑟+ℓ−𝑖−1𝑏𝑣𝑖=𝑞2𝑟+ℓ−1

and

Ω𝑣𝑖=𝑏−1𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑖+𝑏−1𝑞−1𝑣𝑖+𝑞−1𝑐𝑞−1𝑣𝑖=𝛼𝑖(ℓ)𝑏−1𝑎𝑣𝑖−1+𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞𝑖−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1𝑣𝑖=𝛼𝑖(ℓ)𝑏−1𝑣𝑖+𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞𝑖−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1𝑣𝑖=(𝑞𝑖−1)(1−𝑞𝑖−ℓ)𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞𝑖−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1𝑣𝑖=𝑞−𝑟−𝑞𝑖−𝑟−ℓ−𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞−𝑟−ℓ+𝑞−𝑟−𝑖+𝑞𝑖−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1𝑣𝑖=𝑞−𝑟(1+𝑞−ℓ)𝑞−1𝑣𝑖

as claimed.

Annihilators

Let 𝑃ℓ,𝑟(𝑥) be the characteristic polynomial of 𝑏𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) ∈End𝕂⁡𝑉(ℓ,𝑟), so

𝑃ℓ,𝑟(𝑥)=ℓ−1∏𝑖=0(𝑥−𝑞𝑟+𝑖).

Since the eigenvalues of 𝑏𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) are pairwise distinct, this is in fact the minimal polynomial of 𝑏𝑉(ℓ,𝑟). Then the ideal with presentation

𝐼ℓ,𝑟=⟨𝑃ℓ,𝑟(𝑏),𝑧−𝑞2𝑟+ℓ−1,Ω−𝑞−𝑟+𝑞−𝑟−ℓ𝑞−1⟩

is the annihilator ideal of 𝑉(ℓ,𝑟), and in fact

D𝑛(𝑞)/𝐼ℓ,𝑟≅End𝕂⁡𝑉(ℓ,𝑟)

as 𝕂-monoids.

Proof

Let A =D𝑛(𝑞)/𝐼ℓ,𝑟, denote the corresponding congruence relation on D𝑛(𝑞) by ( ≡) and denote the congruence class of 𝑥 ∈D𝑛(𝑞) as [𝑥] =𝑥 +𝐼ℓ,𝑟 ∈A. It is known by the Density theorem for 𝕂-monoids that the representation D𝑛(𝑞) →End𝕂⁡𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) afforded by 𝑉(ℓ,𝑟) is surjective. By the Rank-nullity theorem, it therefore suffices to show that dim𝕂⁡A ≤ℓ2.

Consider the Lagrange polynomials

𝐿𝑖(𝑥)=∏0≤𝑘<ℓ𝑘≠𝑖𝑥−𝑞𝑟+𝑘𝑞𝑟+𝑖−𝑞𝑟+𝑘∈𝕂[𝑥],𝑖=0,…,ℓ−1

for the eigenvalues of 𝑏𝑉, and let 𝑒𝑖 :=𝐿𝑖(𝑏). Then 𝐿𝑖(𝑥)2 −𝐿𝑖(𝑥) annihilates all the eigenvalues of 𝑏𝑉, since

𝐿𝑖(𝑞𝑟+𝑗)2−𝐿𝑖(𝑞𝑟+𝑗)=𝛿2𝑖𝑗−𝛿𝑖𝑗=0,

so 𝑃ℓ,𝑟(𝑥) ∣𝐿𝑖(𝑥)2 −𝐿𝑖(𝑥) and thus 𝑒2𝑖 ≡𝑒𝑖. By ^P1 we have ∑ℓ𝑖=0𝑒𝑖 =1, and clearly 𝑒𝑖𝑒𝑗 + ≡𝛿𝑖𝑗. Therefore 𝑒0,…,𝑒ℓ−1 form a complete system of orthogonal idempotents in A. Now on the one hand, 𝑏𝑒𝑖 ≡𝑞𝑟+𝑖𝑒𝑖 since (𝑏 −𝑞𝑟+𝑖)𝑒𝑖 ∝𝑃ℓ,𝑟(𝑏), and on the other hand, if 𝑥 ∈D𝑛(𝑞) such that 𝑏𝑥 ≡𝑞𝑟+𝑖𝑥, then 𝑏𝑒𝑖𝑥 ≡𝑏𝑥 and thus 𝑥 ≡𝑒𝑖𝑥. Thus we have

A=ℓ−1⨁𝑖=0𝑒𝑖A,𝑒𝑖A={𝑥∈A:∣:𝑏𝑥=𝑞𝑟+𝑖𝑥}.

From this characterization, it is clear that 𝑎𝑒𝑖 ≡𝑒𝑖+𝑗𝑎𝑒𝑖 and 𝑑𝑒𝑖 =𝑒𝑖−1𝑑𝑒𝑖 where we let 𝑒−1 =𝑒ℓ =0. In fact,

A=⟨[𝑒𝑖],[𝑎𝑒𝑖],[𝑑𝑒𝑖]⟩ℓ𝑖=0

as a 𝕂-monoid, since

𝑎=ℓ−1∑𝑖=0𝑎𝑒𝑖,𝑏≡ℓ−1∑𝑖=0𝑞𝑟+𝑖𝑒𝑖,𝑑=ℓ−1∑𝑖=0𝑑𝑒𝑖,𝑐≡𝑞1−2𝑟−ℓ𝑏.

Thus A has a presentation as a quiver with relations, where the quiver is

Applying the relation involving Ω gives [𝑑𝑒𝑖+1𝑎𝑒𝑖] ∝[𝑒𝑖] and [𝑎𝑒𝑖−1𝑑𝑒𝑖] ∝[𝑒𝑖]. Thus any path from 𝑖 to 𝑗 in the above quiver yields the same element of A up to scaling, so dim𝕂⁡A ≤ℓ2.
