Tracelike

Trace form on a Hopf algebra of trace type

H be a Hopf 𝕂-algebra, 𝑢 ∈H be a tracelike, and 𝑉 be a finite-dimensional H-module affording the representation 𝜋 :H →End𝕂⁡𝑉. Then the 𝑢-trace form on H

⟨𝑥,𝑦⟩𝑢,𝑉=tr𝑉⁡(𝑢𝑥𝑦)=tr⁡𝜋(𝑢𝑥𝑦)

is an H-invariant bilinear form.1 #m/thm/hopf

Proof

Using ^P2 we have

⟨𝑥▹𝑦,𝑧⟩=∑(𝑥)tr𝑉⁡(𝑢𝑥(1)𝑦𝑥(2)𝑧)=∑(𝑥)tr𝑉⁡(𝜎2(𝑥(1))𝑢𝑦𝜎(𝑥(2))𝑧)=∑(𝑥)tr𝑉⁡(𝑢𝑦𝜎(𝑥(2))𝑧𝜎2(𝑥(1)))=⟨𝑦,𝜎(𝑥)▹𝑧⟩

as required.

Properties

  1. ⟨𝑥,𝑦⟩ =⟨𝑦,𝜎2(𝑥)⟩.
Proof

Applying ^P2

⟨𝑥,𝑦⟩=tr𝑉⁡(𝑢𝑥𝑦)=tr𝑉⁡(𝜎2(𝑥)𝑢𝑦)=tr𝑉⁡(𝑦𝑢𝜎2(𝑥))=⟨𝑦,𝜎2(𝑥)⟩

proving ^P1.
